Welcome.
Having used an imperfect diet instead of chemotherapy to reverse my own disabling disease, now my objective is to use more than twenty years of experience as a Registered Dietitian to bring the healing power of food to others.
I make no claim to any 'cures' or guaranteed improvements. However, I used food instead of chemotherapy to reverse my own disability and chronic disease. Then I helped clients learn how to use diet to manage or reverse allergies, diabetes, asthma, psoriasis, arthritic symptoms, migraine headaches, pain, obesity, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, ADD, depression, eczema, gastric acid reflux, digestive and elimination problems, polycystic ovary disease, thyroid disorders, acne, anxiety and insomnia. Abundant research makes it clear that the same applied dietary principles also work to prevent common, expensive diseases like heart disease, cancer, diabetes and obesity.
Additionally, the past two years have allowed me to serve children on the autistic spectrum at the world-renowned Thoughtful House Center for Children. With their staff of medical doctors I've repeatedly observed how the applied principles of an appropriate diet can profoundly benefit a child's behavior, language, development, sleep, skin, immune function, digestion and stools.
For the adults who want to lose weight, my work never emphasizes weight. However, clients routinely lose weight and some have lost more than ninety pounds. Most importantly, they learn how to sustain weight loss independently and indefinitely. It's clear that weight loss programs almost always deliver ongoing revenue streams and repeated failure instead of long-term wellness. Instead of endless dialogue, ongoing fees, supplements, hormones or processed meals, I simply teach clients how to prioritize health over weight, how to apply a few dietary principles anywhere, and the long-term value of a long-term perspective.
It's important to mention that since learning how to use food instead of chemotherapy to reverse my own disability I've repeatedly observed unlicensed enthusiasts become a health hazard. The vast majority of those who present themselves as nutrition advisors have no legitimate nor medically recognized license. With no training nor experience nor perspective gained in medical facilities, and without the many years of study required to acquire a legitimate license, personal philosophy and anecdotal observations become the basis of risky convictions. In this spirit that prioritizes personal persuasion over research and public health, I've seen lots of money wasted on inappropriate and unnecessary supplements. I've seen limited opinion rather than extensive clinical outcomes dictate dietary recommendations, then healthy people became sick or sick people became sicker. There was a time when I did not recognize the importance of seeking nutrition advice from an experienced, medically licensed professional. Now I clearly see the public safety of a revocable medical license. And that there simply is no substitute for significant therapeutic nutrition experience, and many years of it with a wide variety of thousands of patients, within supervised medical and research facilities.
Regardless of why you seek dietary help, my goal is enhance your overall quality of life while reducing total health care expense and suffering no negative side-effects. All of this is done within the public safety and accountability of my licenses as a Licensed Dietitian and as a Registered Dietitian.
